Most UPS talk over a serial port. Some use the network, often based on
the snmp protocol. I am sure some are using USB these days. I think the
interface is less an issue than the protocol.
Do you have a UPS or are you looking to get one that is supported?
I know that SUSE have some stuff about UPS in their hardware
compatibility section (http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/UPS). Seems most are
from the UPS supplier. Maybe this gets you started.
