Those of you on the irc channel asked for this. The rest of you are
welcome to it too. My cranberry apple pie recipe, a Thanksgiving
special at Casa de Llama:
12 oz of fresh cranberries (uncooked)
3-5 (depending on size) granny smith apples, sliced into 8ths
2 limes (or lemons), juiced
2 teaspoons of flour
1 tablespoon of sugar
=
dusting of cinnamon
2 pie crusts
Preheat your oven to 475F.
Throw everything but the cinnamon into a large bowl, and then dust
with the cinnamon. Mix thoroughly so that all the ingredients are
evenly coated by the spice/liquid mixture.
Put a pie crust of your choosing (I cheat and use the Pillsbury) into
a pie dish. Dump the contents of the bowl into the pie crust, and
attempt to distribute it as evenly as possible. Put the pie crust
over the top, and firmly seal around the perimeter. Poke 4-6 holes in
the crust to allow steam to vent.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 475F in the oven. Cover with foil, and bake
another 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top.
Add (much?) more sugar if you don't like a tart pie. Expect the pie
to run red with juices when you first slice it. Enjoy!
