Gnome screen frozen

I usually login using ssh from an unfrozen box and run the above....

If you still have keyboard input despite X being frozen control + alt + 
backspace on the frozen session might work. If it does then you probably 
could also do CTRL + ALT + FUNC[1-5] and run the gdm restart as well.
