url link in thunderbird

Maybe there's a Thunderbird list but maybe someone here knows.  In a 
received e-mail, there may be a url in the text.  Clicking on it does 
not activate a browser.  It strikes me that this must be some config 
file that links to my "default browser".  Any idea where that config 
file might be or how I might set a "default browser" in SuSE 9.1 ?
