The use of <OT>

I agree with all you said but I think some thought should be put into what 
goes where...  (whatta concept!)

And that means that you don't START a discussion of your Windows problems 
here, you start them over on general where the thread can continue as long as 
needed.

On the other hand, if I think it is time to tell  Ric that he should "kiss his 
goat", when the thought occurs over here in a thread,  I could do that with 
OT with no problem.

A little common sense goes a long way....   (and then there's Ric...)  :-)
