SATA detection-SOLVED

The solution is a SYBA model SD-SATA150R PCI card, www.syba.com.  This 
is a 2-port card but they have 4-port and lots of other cards.  They use 
the Silicon Image chipsets, and they specifically say that Linux is 
supported on their website.  The controller was 30 bucks 
California/Fry's.  It comes with a CD that has linux drivers on it!

I have no idea why this outfit did not appear on a Google search for 
SATA/linux, but these guys rock.

free muthaboard and to Mr. Reinehr for pointing out my stupid error with 
SIIG vs. Silicon Image.
