SATA detection-SOLVED?

Went down to Fry's, ready to buy a new muthaboard.
Looked around on the shelf for SATA controllers, knowing now that SIIG
is the same as S#IT. Found some obscure box from someplace called SYBA
with a two-port SATA controller that happened to have the words "SIL3112
Chipset" *not* on the box itself, but on the Fry's *price sticker*. So
I says "WTF, it's either this cheap thing or a new muthaboard".
Take it home, plug it in and fire up the box: immediately all kindsa
stuff on POST declaring "SATA RAID CONTROLLER SETUP" yada yada yada.
What do I know about that? Hell, no, I just let it continue to boot.
Stick in the SuSE disk with the sata_sil driver, and BANG, off we go.
So we'll see if I can partition the disks and load FC-6 next.
