I have been using linux on my desktop and Laptop for years, now using
Suse 10.2.
That is until we got new HP 17" Laptops for work ... nice enough but
they all run Vista ... ouch
We are not aloud to touch them until the warranties expire in a year
SO .........
I need some advice
1) How can I get my evolution mail to the laptop??
I have thought about buying a SmartDisk Firelite 80GB USB 2.0 External
Hard Drive and copying all my files onto that then onto the laptop.
Anybody try a Smartdisk with Linux before??
2) If I get it there what email program can I use to access it! Does
anyone know if Evo for windows (currently 2.6.2-5) can read my evo Evo
2.8.2 files
I have not had a ton of time (just got them yesterday) to Google around,
am doing that now and nothing so far. We start with the new Vista
machines on Monday .. so time is kinda tight.
My dream solution would be somehow copying and using my evo files so
that I can copy them back in a year and pick up with Suse where I left
off .. one can dream I suppose.
Your thoughts are more than welcome.
Thanks
Mike
PS: On a side note, I started using Linux because of all the problems I
had with Windows though I missed all the programs that Windows had and
it's features.
Now after a crash course in Vista ... many of Windows old problems maybe
a thing of the past (Freezing, blue screen of death etc....) Vista to me
lags behind Linux in not only security but look and feel and even the
features. I certainly have no apps I miss anymore from Windows and when
I sit back and think about it, I really owe KUDOS to all those Linux
Guys ...... they have put together a superior product in every way. I've
been away from Windows for so long I never noticed how far ahead we are.
So once again thanks to all you Linux programmers out there ... keep up
the stellar work.
