Are you using Ubuntu?

well, look at /etc/fstab. Then look at /boot/grub/menu.lst.
You would use notice that menu.lst is using UUID rather than the exact 
device name. Change the UUID to device names in menu.lst, then 
grub-install /dev/hda again would fix it.
