I've just created a new RAID5 array from 3 disks. Everything appears to
be working fine, but every time I reboot the box, I get this annoying,
erroneous 'SparesMissing event on /dev/md0' email.
Googling only gives me this:
http://marc2.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-raid&m=108834493826264&w=2
but I've tried adding an entry to /etc/mdadm.conf with both "spares=0" and
"spares=1" and neither eliminates the false warning.
Here's what i've got on the box right now:
# cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid6] [raid5] [raid4]
md0 : active raid5 sdb1[0] sdd1[2] sdc1[1]
976767872 blocks level 5, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [3/3] [UUU]
unused devices: <none>
# cat /etc/mdadm.conf
DEVICE partitions
spares=0
MAILADDR lfriedman
ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid5 num-devices=3 spares=1
UUID=50e18808:aad06235:2cb62798:b41f7f9b
