So, if you're happy with Feisty, you must have hit the sweet spot  in
between or after the initramfs-tools fiasco (no boot) and the python
fiasco (gnome desktop gone) <grin>.

I've just put up for grins a Dream Linux system (Etch/testing plus the
latest XFCE; based on Kanotix). It's supposed to have all the
multimedia stuff built in, but I can't get mplayer to work for movie
trailers, so they missed something. Also, they stuffed the CD ISO
image too full, so I had to burn it to DVD.
