Mono .NET and all that

Hello

We are happy users of C and Tcl/Tk. However, we have not been successful
at getting our clients to use our great Tcl interfaces to our data
files. In fact, we also provide a C interface that is what we ourselves
use. The customers are primarily a Visual Basic bunch. We do not and do
not plan to support VB, it being dead technology.

Soo, we are looking to alternatives that might entice our customers to
take better advantage of our tools. Enter .NET/Mono. We are just
starting to look at what is available in Mono so we can develop on
Linux, which we prefer. Anyone have any experience in making
cross-platform .NET/Mono apps? Including those with fancy GUIs? We are
mainly interested in experiences in maintaining portability while using
more than a dumb common subset of all platforms.

This is all early times here. But we like the idea of making our tools
available in .NET so they can be accessed from any ,NET supported
language. Too bad C and Tcl are not on that list. OK, there is a GNU
branch for gcc that should generate ,NET bytecode. But all the libs C
programs use are another story.

Pointers and experiences are welcome.
