bacula anyone?

Is anyone using bacula for backups? And most especially using DVD for
the backup medium?

Having downloaded bacula ad perused the documentation, I find that it
requires a moderately down-level and patched version of dvd+rw-tools
to use DVD as the backup medium.

Any suggestions for keeping this isolated from normal dvd+rw-tools,
especially on Debian/Ubutu systems?

Any other helpful experiences?
