Golly, how long do you need back-ups?  My brother-in-law made me a
cassette of my sr. recital I played in June of 1960.  The reel to reel
tape was a little brittle and broke occasionally, but it came out OK.
Maybe not good enough for HIPPA or the SEC, BUT?  43 years?
