Sorry, not meant to be derogatory, but it does sound like it is rough 
for a kid to be often relocated.  For some reason, I always hear this 
description appended to the name.  Here, see this for interest:

Indeed.  But somehow, this name often seems to be specifically attached 
to children of military personnel.
We had some neighbors (for only a couple years) of which the father was 
an Air Force Colonel (who incidentally had been in Gulf War #1), whose 
children became good friends with our daughter.  Then, poof, off they 
went when he took a gig at the Pentagon.
