Note that with Jabber you can create "rooms" a la IRC.

The plugin I'm thinking of (and looking at) is not listed. It's
called "Offline Message Emulation" and basically saves a message to an
offline "buddy" as a pounce.
Now, if the one that creates this pounce logs off ... I believe the
pounce will occur when they are both online at the same time.
IM != email
however, another plugin I haven't used allows Evolution Integration
(but the extent of that probably only extends to the address book).
Perhaps you need to write your own plugin?
