[OT] My project is now just history :(

Sorry for this off-topic email, but this was an emotional moment for me.

Yesterday was the last day my customer used the Mobitex ( wireless )
service. I started having that interesting project six years ago when
this customer needed an in-house app for their people to go around the
city checking things and sending back the status instead of collecting
and submitting worksheets every day.

At the low level, I had to build a udp-like protocol with error
recovering on top of the Mobitex packets so that the devices can
communicate with a Linux server running Interbase. 

The most interesting thing to me is I have three different screens ( one
on Windows, one on browser and one on Linux terminal ) show me all the
operations between lower and higher layers of communications,
multi-thread processing,  

Some months ago, they decided to change the devices, and hence, the
wireless communication method. The system now use tcpip with ssl, Oracle
database, XML, ... . Yesterday was when they moved everybody to the new
system, and that the end for the project.  Although I re-write that
project for the new system, but I still miss the old one a lot.
