Bob,
I haven't ever tried Ubuntu, but from what I've read there shouldn't be any
great difficulty using the Ubuntu driver in a Sarge installation. If you know
the name of the driver package you can either directly browse a Ubuntu
package mirror; download the package and install it with dpkg. Or, just add a
Ubuntu mirror to your sources list and use apt-get or aptitude, etc. to
install the package.
IIANM the Ubuntu package names and version numbers are constructed in such a
way as to smoothly integrate with normal Debian naming & versioning, so you
shouldn't have to worry about conflicts with the Debian packages, but it
wouldn't hurt to double check.
