I get that much spam all the time. Some services may send this stuff
directly to /dev/null, but gmail just tags it in a separate folder
(label). My theory is, the longer you use a given email address, the
more spam you attract. If I had to manage this crap myself, I would be
forced to change my email address on a regular basis.

Fortunately, gmail has very good and continuously learning spam
detection software. I only get about 5 misses a week that aren;t
already tagged as spam, and only one or two false hits every few
months. Lately,I don't even look; I just whack the contents of the
spam folder every night.

Also fortunately for me, no one except for Bill Campbell seems to care
that my email is sent from a Comcast ip address <grin>.
