Based on my experiences about a year ago, the firmware in DVD boxes
has gone through quite a few iterations. I had an older Sony DVD
single-side burner that would not work when I upgraded to a new Linux
version, and after a lengthy series of guessing games on forums, it
turned out to be a firmware problem.
