DVD backup failing ...

Ok, went to today and bought a Hi-Val 4X DVD multi-format burner.
Also carried a 3 year old ATA133 ATP62xx based PCI controller.
Replaced the NEW/old PCI ATA 133 controller card with the
OLD/new one (ATP62xx).

Guess what? Everything works as it should.

Brought back the ASUS 4X DVD burner and put it and on a
old DELL someone gave me. Had the FLASH the Firmware
on the ASUS burner (the old Rev was at 1.12, the latest is
something like 1.28) and it works fine in the Dell running XPee..

Oh well, Guess DVD burning is still a chicken feet and candle
burning exercise ...
