That's what I did, but the site has a new module package that replaces
spca5xx and is supposed to support many many devices. It's for newer
kernels, as the spca5xx package is noted as being for the older kernels:

NEW!! One driver Upto 220 Webcams supported, thanks Linux :).
until gspca v4l2 is finished, used:
gspcav1 "Generic Softwares Package for Camera Adaptator" version 1.00.04
                            date: 25/09/2006
          for kernel up from 2.6.11 : gspcav1-20060925.tar.gz
           for kernel below 2.6.11: spca5xx version 0.60.00:
                        spca5xx-20060501.tar.gz

That's from:
http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html

the site where you have been getting the scpa stuff. It compiled and
worked like a charm with FC5, using kernel 2.6.18-1.2200.fc5
I cranked up kopete for instant messaging and BEHOLD! my smiling self is
looking back at me. At first it really looked like Hell. Then I dialed
the lens adjustment and there is me. I'm using one of those $15 Micro's
and it's working just fine. I have a more expensive Logitech to try. I
just DID!!! Darn thing isn't listed in the working list, yet it's
working much better and clearer than the cheapo Micro.

Just suppose I used both and sent the 3D signal to Lonnie to rig up a
laser for a hologram display of ME... what a prize!! At any rate, guys
this was simple. REAL simple. Grab those old videocams and give this a
whirl. Next will be microphone setup. After that, the smoking jacket and
briar pipe ala Heffner. <evil grins> Ric
