Hi All,

Have just installed the latest XFCE4 Beta and I must say it's a huge
improvement.

The new File Manager 'thunar' is much easier to use however it's a more
traditional style.
The desktop has been simplified and the main XFCE Menu now appears as
standard
For those of you having trouble with the Buggy Alsa Mixer it's now
working, on my system at least.
Xarchiver the new XFCE file archiving tool is fantastic. It does all the
jobs of the GNOME/KDE file roller style tools without the huge libraries
being loaded (thanks to Xarchiver using the command line tools)
The default terminal is now 'terminal' from oscillation which gives you
a GTK style terminal instead of the default x-term.
Even the defatult text editor is a native xfce4 app mousepad.

As usual the source code compilation gui from oscillation makes the
install painfree.

All in all, the blurb on the website - 'help us make this the best
release of xfce4' is already true from my viewpoint.

This Beta release has solved most of my niggles with XFCE4.

Xfce 4 Desktop Environment
version 4.3.90.1 (Xfce 4.4 BETA1)
