frame errors in ifconfig output?

Thanks for this. I don't seem to see the use of a command till someone 
demonstrates it. Then I'm all like "that is beautiful in it's 
simplicity".

Network monitoring is seems easy in theory. But I'm finding in practice 
it takes a few years of trying different tools especially when 
networking isn't what you do day to day.

I have formed a friendship with:
	ttcp (write raw packets to a specific port on a remote machine 
to test through-put)
	iptraf (watch connections on an interface as they happen)
	ethereal (packet inspection)
		we had a problem with certain types of binary files not 
transferring across a radio link turned out the firmware in some of the 
routers was choking on the content.
	nagios (monitor just about any host / service / link in a web 
interface)

I don't use the tools enough to become proficient but every now and 
again they become life savers.
