Why, oh why do I have to keep learning this lesson: try the free software first.

I've been working a goodly part of the weekend to recover the OS and data from a failing hdd on a client's W2k Server computer. Two different commercial partitioning tools could not seem to copy and resize the primary NTFS partition. After a bunch of Google searches, came upon the GParted LiveCD. And viola! It works. Yet another indispensible tool for my bag.
