Sorry all my PID controller experience was black box sort of stuff. Plug
it in, put in your set point and watch as it climbs above the set point
and then settles back to keep with-in a few points, degrees, psi, kPa of
the set point.

Why do you need proportional control of hydraulics in a home brew setup
may I ask?
