I'm not surprised in the least. This is pre-alpha software, so who's
going to expect lots of polish?

Thanks for the info.

This is very early days for Feisty, so it's possible that they will
offer a later version of the driver before release.

Although I prefer kde, I'm installing the ubuntu-desktop (gnome) and
xubuntu-desktop (xfce) packages for comparison.
