Reminds me of VA Linux.  A huge number of employees had stock options at 
the original stock price of $212, and there were additional groups who got 
strike prices at whatever the stock was selling for on the day they were 
hired ($150, $85, $56, etc).  All of them were under water from day one as 
the stock value continued to drop until about 2 years ago.  Even my 
original options were priced at $8.62, and I was under water the entire 
time i worked there.
