You may be appreciating something that I have been lately... and that is
pre-linking (es corecto?). Whatever it is, it's sped up my box immensely
(running Kubuntu Dapper with kde 3.5.2).
I still have lag with Kontact/Kmail, but it's probably because I'm running
Cache IMAP with a couple gigs of email cached :)
