remote desktop access

I run debian 3.1 at work, and at home too, and wife has laptop running 
winxphome.

I need a solution for both linux to linux gui remote admin as well winxp 
to linux remote.....

Do I install freeNX with 'apt-get install freenx'? Should that get me 
going in right direction?
