google language in firefox

I select from the preferences link to the right of the google search box
on the google site. Otherwise I get Swedish. It has always worked for me
in all the versions of firefox I have used. However, in addition, there
is the language setting in firefox itself.  Under
Perferences->General->Languages. Perhaps you have Portuguese above
English here?
