Not familiar with the standalone units, but from general knowledge and
personal experience (printer is on a windows box), I would recommend
Epson. I got my wife an Epson 890 a couple of years ago, and it prints
superb photos. Epson inks are reputed to be the best in the industry.
The only drawback (probably common to all inkjet printers) is that you
have to clean the heads frequently and repeatedly to maintain printing
quality.
As with any color inkjet printer, the replacement cartridges are
pricey, and you use them up rapidly.
