I use something similiar from Computer Peripheral Systems. A power
control that can be controlled by a local serial port or even a
telephone. One nice feature is a watchdog. If you do not talk to the
device in some set time, it will reset the power. We have an unruly
analysis 'black box' that makes frequent trips into the ozone. The only
way to recover is a power cycle. The IPC fits the bill nicely. A
parallel project is getting rid of the 'black box'. Another nice feature
of the IPC is that if an attached modem does not answer, it can reset
the power to the modem.
