ubuntu distro

  I have looked at the ubuntu site a little, and I have a couple of questions for
someone running ubuntu. I notice theyu did have a 64Bit version. Is anyone running
this and are there any gotchas' here? I seem to remember something about su(ing) or
changing to root. Is there something to be aware of before starting to do an install
of this distro? Is it really ready for system production work on desktops or laptops.
Any info is appreciated.
