I'm sure hardware was a factor for me in so much that what I was using 
was somewhat beefy and somewhat bleeding edge.  I've got primarily SMP 
Opteron & (64bit) Xeon boxen with 4+GB RAM, and SuSE just falls all over 
itself in those configurations.  2.6.12 is supposed to fix a few very 
critical 64bit CPU SMP issues that result in unbootable configurations 
(Oops).
