Samba client shared folders in Win NT domain

Hi all,

I'm trying to get a Sun Netra T1, running Aurora Linux (a Fedora
equivalent on the Sparc platform), to join an existing Windows NT domain.

I've never had much luck configuring Samba in the past, and this is no
exception. I managed to get as far as joining the domain and getting
Windows clients to see the Netra server on the network. I followed the
instructions in this excellent article:
http://linuxgazette.net/105/price.html

However, when I specified some shares in smb.conf and tried to browse
the shares by double-clicking on the Netra icon in Network
Neighbourhood, I get a login box where any user ID I enter is invalid.
The Samba logs show me pdb_init failures.

I think I'm missing a essential step, which is : how does the Samba
server authenticate remote users against the NT server ? I assume that
pdb_init means that for some reason, the Samba server cannot get the
list of users from the NT PDC.

Need help and any suggestions !

Regards,
pascal chong
