while we are here, i suppose i ought to ask about people's experiences 
with dsl, which may or may not be available, probably the latter. to 
cut down on bandwidth, does anyone have any *happy* experiences with 
dsl?

and, <ot>, while i'm here an amusing thing, or at least it is to me.

just got this spam:

"In your neighborhood free joined, Lonely ringed cleaning woman attempt 
your crib. close to 1 million free joined allready!"

this *demands* comment. i cannot imagine why a ringed cleaning woman 
would be lonely. particularly if close to 1 million have already free 
joined.

the funny thing is that it is a really crappy translation of another 
common spam message to the effect that lonely housewives in your area 
are eager to take you to bed. thousands have already joined and it's 
free.

that "housewife" became "ringed cleaning woman" is kind of amusing, 
especially in that it hasn't necessarily meant that for years now.
