Hi Collins,
They made the switch so as to follow the freedesktop spec's, as that's
the direction all WM/DE's will be taking in the very near future. At
first, it is confusing, but now that you (we) know, well, it's not ;-)
Directories of importance under the freedesktop scheme, off the top
of my head, are:
~/.config ; ~/.cache ; ~/.fonts ; ~/.sounds ; ~/.themes and probably a
few more that I've forgotten about (~/.pixmaps & ~/.wallpaper ??).
