I've had no probelems with xfce4 (latest available that I am aware of)
on gentoo, but suddenly (a few days ago) on my Slack system, whenever
I restarted xfce4, the panel would die, leaving me with a disabled
system. I finally tracked down the problem: I had to blow away the
.config and .cache directories. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I've always liked xfce, but the latest version has given up on a
simple .xfce4 directory, which made sense, for controlling things. Now
you have to search for .config and .cache which is super intuitive
(not).
