Gentoo plug:

Chose a distro that has an 'install once, update incrementally'
approach. I installed Gentoo over 2 years ago at home and have only done
incremental updates to keep it exactly as I would have with a new
install.

Yet, on another Gentoo system, I did an install and did NOT do
incremental updates for over 16 months. When I wanted to do an update,
all hell broke loose. So, both solutions have their warts.
