Deleting dual boot XP partition

I've never tried it, myself, but it looks as if Parted is what you're looking
for: http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html

I would suggest using 'dd' or 'partimage' (http://www.partimage.org/) to make
a backup copy of your XP partition before reformatting or deleting it. Then,
when it's time to turn in your laptop, just restore the original partition.
(You might have to backup the boot sector, as well.)
