VMWare gcc problem

I am not too swift on this stuff, so please bear with me.

While running the install script, I get the following error/instruction:

/tmp/vmware-config3/vmmon-only/Makefile:89: *** Inappropriate build 
environment: you wanted to use gcc version 3.3.6 while kernel attempts to use 
gcc version .


/tmp/vmware-config3/vmmon-only/Makefile:91: *** For proper build you'll have 
to replace gcc with symbolic link to /usr/bin/gcc-3.3.

I did a search for gcc, and found I have several versions installed:
3.3
3.4
4.0 
4.1

Seems a bit overkill to me.  Anyhow, how would I accomplish the fix given 
above?
