Having for some time despaired of ever finding a place possessed of 
those characteristics, I value both of your comments.  Thankyou.

But how is it that you see Texas having been able to withstand the 
federal onslaught?  And, aside from the approval with which packing 
heat is generally seen, what do you think it is that justifies this 
reputation for Texas?  And how does Austin manage to go its separate, 
if misguided, way?
