In general this is true. Of course, if you can't do without Candadian
style liberalism, you'd probably feely right at home in Austin.

One of my co-workers just pulled up stakes and headed for Dallas/Ft
Worth area where he says housing is cheaper, there are more high tech
jobs (Security is his bag), and the salaries quoted for him are
higher.
