I am very pleased to hear that you and family survived, along with what 
seems the relatives too. It would seem also from the TV coverage you 
might have to survive looters as well in the aftermath, if the property 
is unattended. Yes the recovery predictions here seem to indicate that 
it will take a lot longer for the floods to clear as the land is so low 
(4weeks at least we are hearing), and that it will be then that road 
clearence can take place. Partial recovery will take about 6 months or more.

It takes a disaster to bring people together to work for the common 
good, seems that we cannot do it without someone getting hurt.

On a side note, as soon as the news hit here (Oz), just hours later the 
petrol companies increased the gas prices by 15cents. They blamed the 
increase on Katrina, profiteering, just the reverse side of the coin.
