Linux friendly inkjet printers?

Sorry, I was not clear on the "windows driver" part. I meant when I run
the printer in windows; then the printer is incredibly slow with the
driver that is supposed to be used with it. I actually use a different
windows driver (for the 1200C) to run the 960C in windows. What I was
trying to get at is that
a) the generic HP/linux driver works "fine", but does not allow me to
get "inside" the printer to tweak it.
b) HP as a company is a flakey operation and has poor support for their
drivers within windows. Of course, they cannot spell "linux".
