Well, now that's a bug:

Sep  7 18:14:52 sanjuan sm-mta[24935]: i87NC79j024935: Milter:
to=<valleverde at panamanow.net>, reject=450 4.7.1 recipient denied,
because MX 10 'gsmtp171.google.com.' [64.233.171.27] for
<david.bandel at gmail.com> does not accept <> address as required by RFC
821, 1123, 2505, and 2821

Just how does someone like gmail do this?  Not good.
