64 bit linux

I've been testing an AMD64 server with the Debian Alioth Pure64 software for a
couple of months now, with no problems. There are several ways to do the
initial installation. Read the howto at:

http://alioth.debian.org/docman/view.php/30192/21/debian-amd64-howto.html

The hardest way, IMO, but certainly a feasible way, is to install a 32bit o/s
and then cross compile yourself a 64bit kernel. But, as the howto describes,
you can install from a pre-compiled 64bit kernel using a 64bit version of the
Debian installer or the Debian from Scratch installer.
