My understanding and experience w/crossover is that it is tweaked as you say, and that those same tweaks make the whole thing a better package.

that's good advice if you have the $$ and xover actually can run what you
need it to.  My understanding is that xover is trweaked to run specific
windoze apps really well, and others not at all.
