Crunch time: Debian, Libranet or FC1?

Hi Matthew !

A lot of people say that Red Hat/Fedora versions are not suitable to be
used on servers. I find that funny, not because I think that Fedora/RH
are the most excellent distributions in the world, but because I have
never met a Linux distribution that did not need a lot of tweaking. I
think Linux servers are as secure as you make them to be. Just ask
Swapana Ghosh, whose servers seem to get cracked into every 6 months.

As for stability, I think Fedora packages are sometimes too bleeding
edge for my liking, but sometimes, it does help to have *some* of the
latest stuff, such as the 2.6 kernel which will be out in FC2. My
opinion of Red Hat has changed quite a lot in the past 2 years -- I used
to think that their distribution was buggier and their business model
reeked of Microsoft. But since they managed to stay afloat, released
Fedora to the community, and since I've become more familiar with their
distro, I think I'll stick to Fedora for a long time.
